L’arte orafa d’avanguardia ha costituito il tema dominante di tutta la vita artistica della designer orafa Ebbe Weiss Weingart (1923 - 2019), nata a Norimberga e vissuta a Salem presso il lago di Costanza, dove tra il 1954 e il 2015, progettò e realizzò nel suo laboratorio tutte le sue opere di maggior rilievo. Con il suo linguaggio formale a volte insolito e le sue bizzarre creazioni figurative, l’artista ha dato un significativo contributo al revival della gioielleria d’arte dopo il 1945. La designer ha sperimentato un'ampia varietà di tecniche di lavorazione che utilizzano plastica, uova di struzzo, lapislazzuli, pietre preziose, perle Keshi e perline Biwa, oltre a giada cinese. La mostra offre una vasta panoramica di manufatti orafi selezionati appartenenti al periodo creativo degli ultimi 70 anni.
Cutting-edge goldsmith art was the dominating theme of the entire artistic life of the goldsmith designer Ebbe Weiss Weingart (1923 - 2019), who was born in Nurnberg and lived in Salem near Lake Konstanz, where he designed and produced his works of greatest importance in his studio between 1954 and 2015. With his formal at times unusual language and his bizarre figurative creations, the artist made a significant contribution to the revival of art jewellery after 1945. The designer experimented with a wide variety of workmanship techniques which use plastic, ostrich egg, lapis lazuli, precious stones, Keshi pearls and Biwa beads as well as Chinese Jade. The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of selected gold articles belonging to the creative period of the last 70 years.

Come espresso dal titolo della mostra “Linea retta”, nei gioielli di Cees Post (1942), orafo da 60 anni e creatore professionale di gioielli da 40 anni, la pulizia delle linee e la semplicità della composizione sono essenziali. Gli effetti ottici dei suoi motivi a strisce in chiaroscuro creano riflessi e cornici suggestive, in cui appaiono sempre magiche finestre nere. Definisce le sue opere 'oggetti di gioielleria', opere d'arte visive autonome di piccole dimensioni. Da sempre affascinato dalle forme architettoniche, dalle linee rette e dal quadrato, Cees Post dichiara “Per me un quadrato è sia un punto di ancoraggio che una sfida nella mia ricerca della bellezza. Il quadrato è il mio stato d'animo”. Su questa base l’artista ha creato dal 2011 una nuova serie di oggetti spilla, esposti in mostra.
As expressed by the title of the exhibition “Straight line”, the jewels of Cees Post (1942), a goldsmith for 60 years and professional jewellery creator for more than 40 years, the cleanliness of the lines and the simplicity of the composition are essential. The optical effects of his striped patterns in chiaroscuro create reflections and picturesque settings, in which black magical windows always appear. He defines his works as ‘objects of jewellery’, small independent works of visual art. Always fascinated by architectural forms, straight lines and the square, Cees Post declares: “For me a square is both an anchor point and a challenge in my search for beauty. The square is my mood”. Since 2011, on this basis, the artist has created a new series of brooches, on show at the exhibition.
