       Glimmers of Sapphire
space which expresses the infinity of the universe, the blue sapphire appears in religious and mythological stories of antiquity, including numerous citations in the Holy Scriptures. In Exodus (24:10), the throne of God is paved with blue sapphires of celestial purity. The blue sapphire is also one of the twelve “fire stones” in Ezekiel (28:13-16), set in the breastplate of judgement, in Exodus (28:15-30). It is also one of the twelve gems laid in the foundations of the walls of the city of Jerusalem, Revelations (21:19). In Indian mythology the sapphire is associated with Saturn, God of darkness, and is considered the enemy of light. In general, the colour of the blue sapphire is identified with spirituality by most Orientals and in gem therapy it is used to induce tranquillity and concentration.
