All’asta Christie’s “Magnificent Jewels”, che si è tenuta a Ginevra l’11 maggio 2022, è stato venduto per CHF 14,181,250 lo storico “The Red Cross Diamond”, splendido diamante fancy giallo intenso taglio cuscino del peso di 205,07 carati. La pietra grezza originale, del peso di circa 375 carati, è stata trovata nel 1901 in una miniera sudafricana, proprietà di De Beers. Come afferma François Curiel, presidente di Christie's Europa e capo del Luxury Department: “E’ la terza volta in oltre 100 anni che Christie's presenta questo straordinario diamante giallo di 205,07 carati. Lo considero un vincolo molto speciale e un grandissimo onore. Parte del ricavato della vendita andrà a beneficio del Comitato Internazionale della Croce Rossa, per una causa che è ancora più toccante nel momento che stiamo vivendo".
The Christie’s auction “Magnificent Jewels”, held in Geneva on 11 May 2022, has sold for CHF 14,181,250 the historical “Red Cross Diamond”, a magnificent fancy intense yellow cushion cut diamond weighing 205.07 carats. The original uncut stone, weighing close to 375 carats was found in 1901, in a South African mine belonging to De Beers. François Curiel, president of Christie’s Europe and head of the Luxury Department, states: “It is the third time in more than 100 years that Christie’s presents this extraordinary 205.07-carat yellow diamond. I consider it a special bond and a great honour. Part of the proceeds of the sale will benefit the International Red Cross Committee for a cause which is even more touching at the current time”.
Al suo secondo appuntamento, il ciclo di laboratori per famiglie organizzato dal Museo del Gioiello di Vicenza, ha presentato lo scorso 30 aprile il tema “Gioielli vicentini”, una sessione dedicata a due tesori liturgici della città: la corona e il pettorale della Madonna di Monte Berico, due opere che rappresentano la diretta testimonianza della devozione e della fede di migliaia di vicentini. Il nuovo appuntamento didattico si è svolto nello spazio museale gestito da Italian Exhibition Group in collaborazione con il Comune di Vicenza, allo scopo di narrare una preziosa storia di fede che unisce la devozione religiosa e spirituale alla Vergine alla cultura dell’arte orafa del territorio. In successione, il 29 maggio si svolgerà il laboratorio “Disegni preziosi” e il 25 giugno “Amuleti prodigiosi”.
On 30th April, at its second appointment, the cycle of family workshops organised by the Jewellery Museum of Vicenza presented the theme “Vicentini Jewels” a session dedicated to two liturgical treasures of the town: the crown and the breastplate of Our Lady of Monte Berico, two works which are the direct evidence of the devotion and faith of thousands of residents from Vicenza. The new educational appointment was held in the museum space managed by the Italian Exhibition Group in association with the Town of Vicenza, to tell a precious story of faith that merges the religious and spiritual devotion to the Virgin with the culture of the goldsmith’s art of the area. On 29 May it will be the turn of “Precious Designs” and on 25 June “Prodigious Amulets”.
