AMBERIF
As always, in connection with the spring edition of AMBERIF, the Fair in Gdansk dedicated to amber and more, AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD took place from 21 to 23 March 2024. The goal of the 27th International Amber Jewels Design Competition was to promote Baltic amber as a means of artistic expression. This year saw a record number of competitors for the much-coveted prizes, presented by the competition’s qualified jury: 229 artists presented 295
works, all referred to the theme of the year “Symbol of Hope”. The designers came from 32 countries around the world, many from Europe, but
also non-European countries, including: Australia, Argentina, China, Iran, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, USA, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates. The jury was composed of equally international personalities: Katharina Kielmann from Vienna, art historian and curator of jewel exhibitions, Carina Shosthary from Munich, goldsmith, graduate of the Academy of Fine
Arts Munich, Anders Ljungberg from Stockholm, Professor of jewellery at Konstfack University, and Sergiusz Kuchczynski from Łódz, of the Jewellery Studio at the Fine Arts Academy of Łódz. Based on the selection made by the jury to
