“Alessandria Preziosa” racconta la civiltà creativa della città di Alessandria e del suo territorio, tra il Cinquecento e il primo Seicento, all’avvento del Manierismo internazionale, negli anni della Controriforma cattolica. L’evento è stato realizzato in collaborazione con le Gallerie degli Uffizi e ha ricevuto importanti prestiti da parte della Galleria fiorentina, dell’Opificio delle Pietre Dure e da alcuni dei più importanti Musei italiani. La mostra si articola in sette sezioni in cui sono esposte 80 opere, rappresentate da una selezione di oreficerie e oggetti in metallo, ma anche dipinti su tela e tavola e sculture in legno e marmo; a testimonianza del ruolo determinante svolto dalle arti suntuarie, dall’oreficeria alla toreutica, dall’arte degli armorari all’intaglio delle pietre dure.
“Alessandria Preziosa”, an international workshop at the end of the 16th century, reveals the creative civilisation of the city of Alessandria and the surrounding area, between the sixteenth century and the early seventeenth century, at the advent of international Mannerism, during the Catholic Counter-Reformation. The event has been realised in association with the Uffizi Gallery and received important loans from the Florentine Gallery, the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and from several of the most important Italian Museums. The exhibition is divided into seven sections with 80 exhibits on show, comprising a selection of jewellery and metalware, but also paintings on canvas and panels and sculptures in wood and marble. They bear witness to the crucial role played by sumptuary arts, from goldsmithing to toreutics, from the art of armourers to the carving of semi-precious stones.

La mostra, nata da un’iniziativa della Direzione Generale Musei del Ministero della Cultura e realizzata a cura del Parco Archeologico di Sepino, Direzione Regionale Musei Molise, narra la storia del gioiello nell’Italia antica, nel lungo periodo che va dall'Età del bronzo all'Alto medioevo. Si tratta di un evento itinerante, primo frutto del Sistema Museale Nazionale e della messa in rete di tesori spesso finora nascosti. I 400 reperti in mostra, testimoni silenti del passato, raccontano storie avvincenti di epoche lontanissime ma ancora vive e appassionanti, come il calco del corpo di una fanciulla sorpresa nell'inutile fuga con i propri gioielli durante l’eruzione del Vesuvio a Pompei oltre ai tesori dei Celti, sottoforma di un casco cerimoniale in zanne di cinghiale, fibule e anelli a spirale.
The exhibition, resulting from an initiative of the Directorate-General of Museums - Ministry of Culture and curated by the Archaeological Park of Sepino, Regional Museums Office of Molise, narrates the story of the jewel in ancient Italy, between the Bronze Age and the Early Middle Ages. It is a travelling event, the first result of the National Museum System and networking of treasures often concealed to this day. The 400 finds on show are silent testimonies of the past, telling compelling stories of distant times but still living and fascinating. Examples of these are the cast of the body of a young maiden surprised with her jewels in a pointless escape during the eruption of the Vesuvius in Pompei and the treasures of the Celts, in the form of a ceremonial helmet in boar trunks, fibulae and spiral rings.
