Più di 3000 anni di arte e cultura dell'antico Egitto vengono narrati da una mostra storica, “Faraone”, realizzata da NGV in collaborazione con il British Museum di Londra. La mostra rivela il ruolo dei Faraoni, re onnipotenti che rivendicavano un’origine divina, mediante un’ampia panoramica di 500 opere, tra cui sculture monumentali, architetture, templi statuari, gioielli, papiri, sepolcri e una ricca gamma di oggetti funerari. Divisa in sette sezioni tematiche la mostra espone anelli, braccialetti e tesori personali, statue e monumenti in scala colossale, corrispondenti all’immagine idealizzata dei Faraoni visti come guerrieri invincibili, ferventi adoratori degli dei. I Faraoni governarono le Due Terre - Alto e Basso Egitto - dalla I Dinastia (3000 a.C. circa) fino alla conquista romana nel 30 a.C.
More than 3000 years of art and culture of ancient Egypt are revealed by a historical exhibition, “Pharaoh”, realised by NGV in association with the British Museum of London. The exhibition unveils the role of the Pharaohs, almighty kings who claimed a divine origin, through a vast overview of 500 works, including monumental sculptures, architecture, statuary temples, jewels, papyri, sepulchres, and a vast range of funerary objects. Divided into seven themed sections the exhibition puts on show rings, bangles and personal treasures, statues, and monuments in colossal scale, corresponding to the image idealised by the Pharaohs seen as unbeatable warriors, ardent worshippers of the gods. The Pharaohs governed the Two Lands - Upper and Lower Egypt - from the 1st Dynasty (ca 3000 BC) to the Roman conquest in 30 BC.
